Wolfgang Ziegler was born on 8 October 1943 in Rostock, Germany, and emerged as
a German pop‑rock singer and composer. After completing his Abitur in the GDR
and a vocational apprenticeship as a motor mechanic, he entered the music scene
in the early 1960s, studying piano as a student and joining the Beat‑Quartett
that evolved into the popular Baltics of northern East Germany. In 1966 he
