William Elliott Whitmore, born on May 11, 1978, in Lee County, Iowa, is an
American blues singer and musician. Growing up on a family farm, he was
influenced by his musical parents and grandparents. Whitmore began his music
career as a roadie for the Iowa City punk band Ten Grand, eventually performing
as an opener and touring extensively with them. He released his first albums
Hymns for the Hopeless (2003), Ashes to Dust (2005), and Song of the Blackbird
