Elena Vladimirovna Tutanova, known professionally as Varvara, was born in
Balashikha, Soviet Russia. She began her career in musical theatre, studying at
the Gnesinskaya Academy in Odesa, Ukraine, and later graduating from the Russian
Academy of Theatre Arts GITIS. Varvara's breakthrough came when she signed with
NOX Music in 2000, leading to the release of her debut album Varvara in 2001.
Despite initial radio hesitation due to her unique blend of influences, songs
