Val Xalino
Valdemiro Silva Xalino, known as Val Xalino, and born on August 19, 1953, in
Mindelo, São Vicente, Cape Verde, is a singer and music producer who immigrated
to Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1977. He was the first Cape Verdean to perform
traditional Cape Verdean music for Swedish audiences, appearing in various
festivals. Xalino's first album was Dilema d’imigração (1985), which addressed
the common immigration dilemmas of Cape Verdeans at that time. In 1986, he
