Herbert Anton Bloeth, but he later took his mother's surname, Marshall. For
decades, Tony Marshall was one of the best-known pop singers in the
German-speaking world. He began his musical career after studying classical
singing at the Karlsruhe University of Music. His breakthrough came in 1971 with
the single "Schöne Maid", which made it into the charts in Germany and
