The Routers were an American instrumental group formed in 1962 by Michael Z.
Gordon, who served as a key member and composer. The original line-up included
Al Kait on lead guitar, Lynn Frasier on tenor saxophone, Scott Walker (then
recording as Scott Engel) on bass guitar, and Randy Viers on drums. Their
breakthrough came with the release of "Let's Go (Pony)" in September 1962, which
reached number 19 on the Billboard chart. The song featured a catchy chant
adopted by cheerleaders all over the world. The Routers' recording was produced
