The Mommyheads, an indie pop band from New York City, formed in 1987 as the
brainchild of singer Adam Cohen. The group's first official release was the
Magumbo Meatpie EP in 1988 on the Sit and Spin label. Their debut album, Acorn,
followed in 1989 on Fang Records, featuring Cohen alongside Jan Kotik and Matt
Patrick. The band relocated to San Francisco in 1990 and released several
albums, including Coming into Beauty (1992) and Flying Suit (1994). In 1997,
