The Halo Effect
Founded in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2021, the Halo Effect are Swedish melodic death
metal band formed by Mikael Stanne (lead vocals), Niclas Engelin (lead guitar),
Jesper Strömblad (guitar), Peter Iwers (bass), and Daniel Svensson (drums);
former members of Swedish metal band In Flames. The Halo Effect came about
during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the group wanting to recreate the iconic
1990s “Gothenburg sound”, widely considered the genesis of the melodic death
