The Goats were a Philadelphia‑based hip‑hop group formed in 1991 by vocalist
James D'Angelo, known professionally as OaTie Kato, and producer Patrick Shupe,
known as Swayzack, joined by sisters Love and Rucyl Mills and Vinnie Angel.
Their early exposure came through a cassette release introduced to Columbia
Records and Ruffhouse Records by the dance musician King Britt, leading to a
contract with Ruffhouse. The group’s breakthrough single "Typical American" /
