The Flatlanders, an American country band formed in 1971 in Lubbock, Texas,
comprised Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Joe Ely, and Butch Hancock, each contributing
vocals, guitar, and songwriting. Their breakthrough came with a 1972 promotional
single, "Dallas", and the limited release of All American Music, produced by
Shelby Singleton at Sun Studios. After a brief run until 1973, the trio reunited
sporadically, releasing Now Again (2002) and Wheels of Fortune (2004) on New
