The Country Gentlemen, an American bluegrass band, formed on July 4, 1957 in
Washington D.C. The original lineup included Charlie Waller, John Duffey, Bill
Emerson, and Larry Lahey. They began performing as a replacement for Buzz Busby
and the Bayou Boys after several members of that band were injured in a car
accident. The Country Gentlemen's early career saw them touring both bluegrass
and folk circuits during the 1950s and 1960s. Their first classic lineup,
