Teresa Brewer, born Theresa Breuer on May 7, 1931, in Toledo, Ohio, is an
American pop singer known for her versatile style that incorporated elements of
country, jazz, rhythm and blues, and novelty songs. At two years old, Brewer
began performing on the radio show Uncle August's Kiddie Show on WSPD Toledo.
She later appeared on Major Bowes Amateur Hour, a popular radio program, from
ages 5 to 12. In 1948, at 16, she won a local competition and traveled to New
York to perform on Stairway to the Stars. It was during this time that she
