Behind the pseudonym Surgeon lies Anthony Child, a British DJ born in
Kislingbury, near Northampton, on May 1, 1971. At the forefront of British
techno from the outset, he moved to Birmingham in 1989 and, along with other DJs
such as Regis and Female, defined the "Birmingham Sound", crossing Detroit
techno with British acid techno. Founder of the Counterbalance and Dynamic
Tension labels, he set up the House of God club, where he performed regularly
