Spineshank was formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1996 by bassist and
vocalist Jonny Santos, guitarist Marlo Gonzalez, drummer Tommy Decker, and
guitarist Mike Sarkisyan. The group initially emerged from the earlier band
Basic Enigma and released a demo EP Drunk With Power in 1994, which helped them
secure a contract with Roadrunner Records. Their debut studio album Strictly
Diesel appeared on 22 September 1998, followed by The Height of Callousness on
10 October 2000; the single "Synthetic" and the track "New Disease" gained
exposure on the soundtrack of 3000 Miles to Gracela...
