Lindsey Erin Jordan was born on 16 June 1999 in Ellicott City, Maryland, and
emerged as the guitarist, singer and songwriter behind the US indie‑rock solo
project Snail Mail. She began playing guitar at five, joined her church band and
school jazz ensemble, and started writing songs in seventh grade, performing
locally by age 15. Her first self‑recorded EP, Stick, appeared in 2015, followed
by the Habit EP in 2016 on Sister Polygon Records; the track "Thinning" received
