Helen Ballentine, known professionally as Skullcrusher, was an American indie
folk singer-songwriter born in Tarrytown, New York. She attended the Hackley
School and later graduated from the University of Southern California with a
degree in graphic design. After playing piano for most of her life, Ballentine
decided to pursue music full-time, writing her first song "Places/Plans" in
2019. The single was released on April 21, 2020, and marked the announcement of
