Sister Hazel, an American rock band from Gainesville, Florida, formed in 1993 and was named for Sister Hazel Williams, a local missionary. Originally consisting of Ken Block, Jett Beres, and Andrew Copeland, the group released its self-titled debut album Sister Hazel in 1994 through their independent record label Croakin' Poets. Shortly after, singer/guitarist Ryan Newell and drummer Mark Trojanowski joined the band.
