Jazz trombonist Shigeharu Mukai was born on January 21, 1949, in Nagoya, Japan.
He attended Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan but ended up leaving before
earning his degree in order to become a professional musician. Before he began
his solo career, he played with Yoshio Otomo, Ryō Kawasaki, and Hiroshi Fukumura
before forming his own ensemble and building a name for himself. He released his
solo debut album, Favorite Time, in 1976. That album was followed by Spacing Out
