Germain Randrianarisoa, known professionally as Rajery, was born in 1964 in
Ambohimanga, Madagascar. A singer and valiha player from the Merina ethnic
group, Rajery lost the use of his right hand's fingers at a young age and had to
be amputated. At fifteen, he began playing the valiha, a traditional bamboo tube
harp. His international career started in 1999 with the release of Dorotanety.
In 2002, Rajery won the RFI Musique du Monde award. He released several albums
