Pumpuang Duangjan, born Rampueng Chitharn on August 4, 1961, in Amphoe Song
Pheenong, Suphanburi Province, Thailand, was a notable Thai singer. From a
large, impoverished farming family with minimal education, she moved to Bangkok
at age 14 to pursue music. Her vocal talents quickly gained attention, and she
became known for performing at temple fairs. Early albums include Kaew Roe Phee
(1976) and Nak Rong Ban Nok (1977). Duangjan's career included films like
Songkram Pleng (1983) and Nuk Rong Nuk Leng (1984). She died of lupus
