Paupière is a Montreal-based electropop duo. They were formed in 2014 and initially consisted of Pierre-Luc Bégin (of the group We Are Wolves), Eliane Préfontaine, and Julia Daigle. The group began jamming together and exploring songwriting before their first performance, which was at a Halloween party in 2014. Over the course of the following year, they honed their songwriting and live performances while recording their debut EP titled Jeunes Instants, which was released in 2016 and featured the hit single "Cinq Heures."
