Born in Bonao, Dominican Republic, on January 17, 1979, Antonio Peter De la
Rosa—better known as Omega El Fuerte—emerged in the early 2000s as a defining
force in merengue urbano, a modern fusion of traditional merengue with hip-hop
and R&B. After starting his career in local rap groups and television
competitions, Omega formed Omega y Su Mambo Violento and broke through with the
