Northside
Northside, an English alternative rock band from Blackley and Moston in north
Manchester, England, was formed in 1989 by Warren "Dermo" Dermody on
vocals/lyrics and Cliff Ogier on bass. They were later joined by Michael Upton
on guitar and Paul Walsh on drums. The band became part of the 1990s Madchester
/ baggy / indie - rave scene, releasing their debut single "Shall We Take a
Trip" in May 1990. Despite being banned by the BBC for its drug references, it
reached Number 50 on the UK Singles Chart. Their next release, "My Rising Star",
peaked at Number 32 and stayed on the chart ...
