No-Man, an English art-pop duo, was formed in 1986 by singer Tim Bowness and
multi-instrumentalist Steven Wilson. Initially a solo project by Steven Wilson,
the band evolved into a collaborative effort with Tim Bowness after he joined in
1987. Their debut single "The Girl from Missouri" was released in mid-1989 under
Plastic Head Records. The duo shortened their name to No-Man and gained
significant attention with the single "Colours", which received critical acclaim
and led to a long-term music publishing agreement with Hit & Run Music
