Mikel Markez Ibarguren, born on October 4, 1971, in Rentería, Spain, is a Basque singer-songwriter who accompanies himself with guitar. He began composing songs at 16 and debuted on stage in the summer of 1988. His first LP, Eta etorri egin zait..., was released in 1991, launching his career as a key figure in Basque music. Markez has participated in shows blending poetry and music, notably collaborating with writer Pako Aristi on the album Dena hankaz gora.
