Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, born on September 22, 1875, in Varėna,
Lithuania, was a pianist, composer, and painter. He studied at the
Orchesterschule of Polish Prince Michał Ogiński in Plungė from 1889 to 1893,
later graduating from the Warsaw Music Academy in 1899. Čiurlionis furthered his
education at the Leipzig Conservatory from October 16, 1901, to July 14, 1902.
His career blended music and visual arts; he began painting in 1902 and studied
at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts from 1904 to 1906. Notable compositions
