Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, born on September 22, 1875, in Varėna, Lithuania, was a pianist, composer, and painter. He studied at the Orchesterschule of Polish Prince Michał Ogiński in Plungė from 1889 to 1893, later graduating from the Warsaw Music Academy in 1899. Čiurlionis furthered his education at the Leipzig Conservatory from October 16, 1901, to July 14, 1902.
