Born on July 18, 1988 in Istanbul, Turkey, dance-pop singer and songwriter Merve
Özbey rose to national fame after appearing on Erdem Kınay's 2012 hit single
"Duman," which was featured on the Turkish producer's album Proje. After
contributing to his follow-up album Proje 2, notably providing vocals on the
track "Helal Ettim," she was inspired to step out on her own and record her
debut solo album. Yaş Hikayesi was released in 2015, with which she spawned a
chart-topping hit on her native soil with the Deniz Erten and Erdem
