Merel Baldé (February 10, 1991) is a Dutch singer-songwriter who performs under
the name Merol. Born in the city of Dordrecht, she seemed to materialize out of
thin air in 2018 with her infectious synthpop single “Lekker met de Meiden,”
which went viral in an almost overnight fashion. That same year, she issued the
EP Boter. A fiercely independent artist and a natural-born provocateur, Merol
sparked controversy in 2019 with her next single “Hou je bek en bef me,” an
