With a long calling card, Mayer Hawthorne (born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1979)
renovates 1970s soul with talent on his debut album A Strange Arrangement
(2009). His 2011 follow-up How Do You Do confirms his predispositions in a style
of retro soul tinged with funk and rap. Two years later, Where Does This Door Go
was released, marking the start of a soft rock turn. After collaborating with
