Mat Kearney, born December 1, 1978, in Eugene, Oregon, began as a literature
student and college soccer player before discovering music in Chico, California.
After a pivotal trip to Nashville with producer Robert Marvin, Kearney left
school and settled in Tennessee to pursue songwriting. He debuted in 2004 with
Bullet, followed by his breakthrough 2006 album Nothing Left to Lose, which
earned chart success and major tours. In 2009, he released City of Black &
