Massive Wagons formed in Lancaster, England, in 2009. Vocalist Barry "Baz" Mills and guitarist Adam Thistlewaite had previously played together in the British band Ace Face, with Massive Wagons offering the musicians an opportunity to explore more hard-hitting influences like hard rock and punk. Fire It Up, the band's full-length debut, was released by Casket Music in 2012, and the group signed with an Ibiza-based label, Off Yer Rocka, after winning a battle-of-the-bands competition named "Highway to Hell" in 2013.
