Formed in 1980 and disbanded twelve years later, Les Avions represented the idea
of French-style new wave pop, tinged with funk and rock. Their 1986 hit "Nuit
sauvage" stayed in the Top 50 for nineteen weeks. This single from their second
album Fanfare followed the enthusiastic press response to its predecessor, Les
Avions (Underdog, 1982, whose master tapes perished in a fire). The band tried
in vain to replicate this success with the albums Loin (1989, with "Tous ces
visages") and 4 (1992), which sounded the death knell for the adventure.
