La Dispute, an American post-hardcore band from Grand Rapids, Michigan, was
formed in late 2004 by Jordan Dreyer, Brad Vander Lugt, Kevin Whittemore, Derek
Sterenberg, and Adam Kool. Initially, Dreyer did not have a background in music
but wrote poetry and short fiction. The group began performing in local venues
such as houses and the Division Avenue Arts Collective. In 2006, Chad
Morgan-Sterenberg replaced his brother Derek, and the band released their first
EP, Vancouver, on Friction Records. La Dispute signed with No Sleep Records in
early 2008, releasing their debut album So...
