Kemuri, a Japanese–American ska punk band formed in Orange County, California in
1995, emerged with a blend of upbeat ska rhythms and positive lyrical themes
known as PMA. The group’s early work included the single “Little Playmate”
(1998) and the album 77 Days (1998), both of which helped establish their
presence across the Japanese and U.S. ska-punk scenes. In 2001, Kemuri released
the album Emotivation, which showcased the band’s energetic horn arrangements
