Karen Briggs, born on August 12, 1963 in Manhattan, New York, is an American
violinist who began playing at age 12 and turned professional at 15. She joined
the Virginia Symphony Orchestra during college but left after four years, drawn
to jazz over classical music. Briggs' breakthrough came with Yanni, joining his
tour in 1991 and earning the nickname "Lady in Red" during the Live at the
Acropolis tour. She released Karen in 1992, followed by Amazing Grace in 1996
and Soulchestral Groove in 2009. Briggs collaborated with notable artists
