A Corsican music group, I Muvrini was formed in the late 1970s by brothers
Jean-François Bernardini and Alain Bernardini, both born in the village of
Tagliu-Isulacciu in northern Corsica, who were introduced to traditional
Corsican music at an early age by their father, poet and singer Ghjuliu. Ghjuliu
died in December 1977, and the two brothers paid tribute to him with their first
album, I Muvrini... Ti Ringrazianu, released in 1979. The name I Muvrini refers
to a species of wild sheep (the mouflon) that lives in the Corsican mountains.
