Highland was formed in Germany in 1999 by vocalist Nicole Heiland, and rappers
Dean “Dirty‑D” Burke and Patrice “Lady Scar” Gansau, with songwriting and
production handled by Mike Michaels, Mark “MM” Dollar, and Mark Tabak. Their
debut single "Bella Stella" was released in late 1999, reaching the top‑10 in
Germany and Austria and number 12 in Switzerland, and was followed by the album
Bella Stella in 2000, which peaked at number 52 in Germany and 87 in
