Real name Heather Allison Frith, singer, songwriter and musician Heather Nova
hails from Bermuda, where she was born on July 6, 1967. The daughter of a
Canadian and a native of the island, she grew up with her younger brother
Alexander, who would go on to become known as a reggae singer under the name
Mishka, and spent a lot of time traveling on the family sailboat. After learning
guitar and violin, she began composing her first songs and moved to the United
States to study at the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating in 1989. She
