Harry Nilsson
An enigmatic American singer-songwriter, Harry Nilsson - who tended to use only
his surname - built a big following in the 1970s despite his dislike of
appearing live and hit the big time when his song Everybody's Talkin' was used
as the theme for the hit movie Midnight Cowboy. Descended from a Swedish circus
family, he was brought up in Brooklyn, New York and, mostly raised by his single
parent mother, had a tough upbringing and left school early. He found an empathy
with music, however, first expressing his talent in a close harmony duo with
Jerry Smith, learning to play ukulel...
