Ayub Bey, known as Grand Daddy I.U., was an American rapper born on August 23,
1968, in Queens. He was raised in Hempstead, Long Island, and encouraged to
begin performing by his older brother. He started rapping when he was
incarcerated in jail. In 1989, Biz Markie signed him to Cold Chillin' Records.
Grand Daddy I.U.'s debut album Smooth Assassin (1990) featured two Rap Chart
hits: "Something New" (#11) and "Sugar Free" (#9). He became noted for his
