David Eugene Summers, known as Gene Summers and born on January 3, 1939 in
Dallas, Texas, was an American singer and songwriter known for his contributions
to rock 'n' roll and rockabilly music. He began his career with the group The
Rebels, playing a key role in the early development of rockabilly. In 1964,
Summers achieved significant success with "Alabama Shake" and "Big Blue
Diamonds". In 2006, his album School of Rock 'n Roll was selected by Bob Solly
