French author, composer, guitarist and performer Gaspard Royant was born in
Thonon-les-Bains, Haute-Savoie, on November 6, 1979. He learned music theory and
the saxophone as a child, before turning to the guitar in his teens. Based in
Paris, he was performing solo in bars when one of his tracks, "The Big Sleep",
was chosen as the theme tune by director Arnaud Desplechin for his film Un conte
de Noël (2008). After a debut EP, You Can Have Me (If You Want To), which won
the Audience Prize at the Festival Chorus springboard in Hauts-de-Seine, Gaspard
