Gary Allan Herzberg, born on December 5, 1967 in La Mirada, California, is an
American country music singer. Raised Mormon, he began playing guitar and
performing in honky tonks at the age of 13 with his father. At 15, he was
offered a recording contract by A&M Records but declined to finish high school.
After graduating from La Serna High School, Gary Allan continued performing with
his band, the Honky Tonk Wranglers. His breakthrough came in 1996 when he signed
