Frank Crumit, born September 26, 1889 in Jackson, Ohio, was an American singer,
composer, entertainer and vaudeville star who began his career at age five in a
minstrel show. By 1913, he performed on the vaudeville stage, playing ukulele.
Crumit made his Broadway debut in Betty Be Good (1918) and started recording for
American Columbia in 1919, later transitioning to Victor Talking Machine
Company. Crumit composed at least 50 songs, including "Buckeye Battle Cry" for
