Flotsam and Jetsam
Flotsam and Jetsam is an American thrash metal band that was founded in 1981 in
Phoenix, Arizona. The original line-up consisted of singer Eric "A.K." Knutson,
guitarist Michael Gilbert and drummer Kelly David-Smith. The band initially
played under various names such as Paradox and Dredlox before finally changing
their name to Flotsam and Jetsam in 1984. The name comes from a chapter of the
novel The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien. Their debut album Doomsday for
