Flex (born August 26, 1980, as Félix Danilo Gómez Bosquez in Panama City and
raised in Chitré) came up in Panama’s late-1990s reggae en español circuit,
recording early features before refining the romantic style that defined his
breakthrough. He issued his debut album Te Quiero: Romantic Style in da World in
2007, led by the crossover single “Te Quiero,” which topped Latin radio across
the Americas, crossed to the Billboard Hot 100, and earned a Latin Grammy for
Best Urban Song in 2008; a televised remix with Belinda widened his pop reach.
