Erkin Abdulla, born 艾尔肯·阿布都拉 on July 8, 1978, in Xinjiang, China, is a Uyghur
singer known for blending contemporary folk, Uyghur pop, and flamenco. Abdulla
began studying guitar at 12 and started his music career after moving to Beijing
in 1997 to attend university. Abdulla released his debut album Caravan in 2002,
which won Best Musical Album and Best Adapted Folk Music at the Nanning
International Folk Song Art Festival. His original song "Uyghur Girl" earned him
the Ten Golden Melody Award at the same festival.
