Elegy, a Dutch power and progressive metal band from Eindhoven, was founded in
1986 by guitarist Henk van der Laars. The initial lineup included drummer Gerry
and singer Theo, with Arno van Brussel joining later as the second guitarist.
After several lineup changes, including the addition of bassist Martin
Helmantel, Elegy gained traction by winning a band contest organized by Metal
Hammer and Polydor Records in 1987. Their debut album Labyrinth of Dreams was
released in 1993 and reached Number 8 place in the Japanese album charts. The
