Kate Joy Smithson, known professionally as Kate Earl, was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and began her musical journey as a pianist at four, later adding guitar at seventeen while working at her parents’ gas station. After relocating to Los Angeles in 2004, she secured a deal with The Record Collection, and her debut album Fate Is the Hunter was released on 10 May 2005.
