A British synth pop and new wave band born in Birmingham in the early 1980s,
Duran Duran enjoyed rapid success with their first albums, Duran Duran (No. 3 in
1981), Rio (No. 2 in 1982) and above all Seven and the Ragged Tiger (No. 1 in
1983), at the start of the music video era, which greatly contributed to their
popular success, both in the UK and in the USA, where the band enjoyed a star on
